Richard Dewling was born in New London, Connecticut in 1935. He attended the Butera School of Art in Boston researching commercial art. His studies led him to the fine art of oil painting which showcase his talents amidst landscapes, seascapes, and still life. Professionally, he is a skilled mason contractor who spends considerable time designing and constructing customized fireplaces, walkways, walls & structures using different mediums such as stones, bricks, mortar and concrete. His business now includes his sons. Following a trip to Italy in 1996, his interest with sculpture intensified leading him to The Carving Studio and Sculpture Center in Vermont. He belongs to the Art League of Daytona Beach and is a colleague of the National Sculpture Society. Dewling also is an artist member of the North Shore Art Association in Gloucester, Massachusetts.
R. Dewling is a freelance sculpture. His works are a conduit for both an inner and an outer reality. Whether the image is a still life or abstract, it is hisintegration and translation of energy and life. Dewling feels art is a universal language; he believes art is a shared experience of the essence of life. He lives and works winters in Daytona Beach, Florida and summers in Saugus, Massachusetts.
